It’s been over a year since we launched the PRO version of Modern Blogger! Yay, I love anniversaries 🙂 Because this theme continues to sell like new, I thought an update was in order. I fixed a few known quirks, and added some FUNction. So what exactly is different?
Responsive and Retina Ready Header Uploader
No more digging into code to add an image to your header in order to keep it retina ready. I’ve added an uploader that makes it a piece of cake. After The TADA! Workshop I realized just how difficult this could be, and knew I had to find a solution. I’m happy to say it’s live, and Swank will be soon to follow. Our newer themes come with this feature as well.
Mobile Responsive Menu Now Built In
You can ditch that mobile navigation plugin, because a responsive menu is now built right in.
New After Post Widget Area & Styled Simple Share Plugin
I styled the new simple share plugin from Brian Gardner into the update as well as added an after post widget. Place whatever you like in this new space, it’s a great spot for an email subscription widget!
Newly Organized Sidebar Widgets
Something as little as a 1px border can make all the difference.
Susan provided me with feedback from the support desk for a few minor things here and there that I altered in this update for ease of use, and I got rid of the “rems” in the stylesheet eliminating countless lines of code, which will speed up your page load time.
How to Update
In order to prevent loss of any customizations you may have made, we release updates as an entirely new theme download. To replace your current Modern Blogger Pro theme – Deactivate it, activate the default WordPress theme, delete the modern blogger pro theme and then install the new download and activate. Follow the setup tutorials as usual.
The updated theme file is available in your account area here, and at StudioPress. If you prefer the theme prior to updates, or just want to use the old theme to assess differences, you can find a download link at the bottom of your account page here at PrettyDarnCute.com. If you purchased through StudioPress and would like a copy of the old theme download, just shoot us an email via the support ticket page.
Compare the old & new downloads
DiffChecker.com will allow you to paste the CSS from each theme (old and new) into separate areas and show you what’s different. You can then add what you like to your stylesheet, or delete what you do not want in the new theme from the updated stylesheet as opposed to the original. It’s worth noting that there are new files in your theme as well as changes to the functions file.
