When I first began this web design journey in 2005 it was just me, my computer, and a few friends I had told about my website. Needless to say, I knew my audience. Ha! As my little business grew with each passing year, I realized there weren’t enough hours in the day to email back and forth with each customer. Which is why I LOVE instagram, pinterest, facebook, and twitter! Social Media is essential for connecting with your base.
Another, albeit less personable, essential tool is google analytics. I’m going to highlight a few of my favorite features that this free tool provides about your base. I’m in the web design industry, so naturally I went straight for which browsers you fabulous folks frequent. This Mama Bear was proud to discover the majority of you use Chrome.
Why You Should Be Using Google Analytics
With Google Analytics you are able to discover the following things about your audience (and so much more):
Type of Browser
Percentage of Mobile Visitors
Operating System – 67% of you use Apple, with Android in second place.
Service Provider – The majority of you use Verizon.
Real Time Info – How many people are on your site, where they’re from etc.
and the list goes on and on. (and on!)

As someone who repeatedly puts her foot in her mouth in social settings, I understand just how important it is to know your audience.
This is true for different reasons online 😉 When you know your website audience, you’re able to provide them with better everything. Content, products, information etc.
So hop to it, y’all. If you’re already signed up for Google Analytics, then make sure you pencil in some time a few times a week to glance at your dashboard. There are several google analytics plugins that will place those stats right in your WordPress dashboard for you, pretty neat!
